‘Really Like U’ Release and Reception: Views, Reviews, Awards

Stalk Ashley Hub · 13 September 2026 · 5 min read

“Really Like U” by Stalk Ashley and Skillibeng came out on 1 March 2024, with the single and official video released together. Within a week the video had passed 464,000 views and reached No. 12 on YouTube’s Trending chart, the Jamaica Observer reported. The song later earned a 2025 Caribbean Music Awards nomination for Dancehall Collaboration of the Year.

Here is the full rollout, the numbers as they were reported at the time, and what critics said.

Release timeline

  • 1 March 2024: the single arrives on streaming services through Stalk Ashley Music and Zojak World Wide, and the official video goes live on Stalk Ashley’s YouTube channel. Kaboom Magazine covered it that day and presented it as a preview of her upcoming project.
  • 8 March 2024: the Observer reports that by 7 March the video had passed 464,000 views and reached No. 12 on YouTube Trending. The paper describes the song as the first release from a 10-track EP planned for May.
  • 21 March 2024: RiddimStyle Magazine highlights the collaboration, describing it as a genre-crossing record with a steamy video.
  • April 2024: Billboard includes the song in its monthly reggae/dancehall Fresh Picks.
  • 18 April 2024: DancehallMag, reporting on her appointment as a Pepsi Jamaica ambassador, notes that the video has passed 1.1 million views.
  • 30 August 2024: the song becomes track eight on her debut album Stalky the Bratt. The Observer lists it among the album’s previously released singles.
  • 2025: nominated for Dancehall Collaboration of the Year at the Caribbean Music Awards.

How it performed on YouTube

We found no reported Billboard or UK chart position for the song, so YouTube is the clearest public measure of its reach. Three dated snapshots show how it grew:

  • By 7 March 2024: more than 464,000 views and No. 12 on YouTube Trending (Jamaica Observer).
  • By 18 April 2024: more than 1.1 million views (DancehallMag).
  • By 13 September 2026: more than 3.3 million views, according to the counter on the official upload.

That Trending run came on an independent release: Stalk Ashley put the song out through her own company, with Zojak World Wide handling distribution. Full details are in the “Really Like U” credits.

What critics said

Billboard

Writing in Billboard’s Fresh Picks, Kyle-Brandon Denis called it a “low-key sexed-up duet”. He argued that New York drill’s skittering snares gave the sparse dancehall beat real urgency, and praised the song as a showcase of both artists’ versatility.

Jamaican press

The Observer led with the song’s trending run and Stalk Ashley’s confidence in it. She told the paper she never doubted releasing it and believed it was a strong song even before Skillibeng joined. In an April Gleaner interview, she framed it as part of a more experimental sound, with dancehall-leaning lyrics over a trap and R&B beat. By July, the Observer was listing “Really Like U” first among her established hits.

Online outlets

Kaboom Magazine focused on the collaboration itself and Stalk Ashley’s comments about how easy Skillibeng was to work with. RiddimStyle emphasised how the song moved across genres.

The Caribbean Music Awards nomination

“Really Like U” was nominated for Dancehall Collaboration of the Year at the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards, held on 28 August 2025 in Brooklyn. The award went to Shenseea, Masicka and Di Genius for “Hit & Run”, according to Soca News’ winners list. The nomination still placed it among the year’s recognised dancehall collaborations. Stalk Ashley was back in contention the following year with two 2026 nominations; see her 2026 Caribbean Music Awards nominations.

Remixes, versions and what came next
