Alkaline (born Earlan Bartley) has collaborated with a short but notable list of artists: Sean Kingston, Shaggy, Sean Paul, French Montana, WSTRN, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Keith Sweat and Akon, Chip and Stefflon Don, Kranium, Mavado, Knaxx and Stalk Ashley, among others. What makes the list interesting is how short it is. Across his three studio albums, the Kingston deejay has credited exactly one guest vocalist.
Below is every Alkaline collaboration we could verify against streaming credits, label uploads or reputable music press, grouped by era, plus the context behind his reputation as one of dancehall’s most feature-shy stars.
Why Alkaline collabs are so rare
Plenty of dancehall albums are stacked with guest verses. Alkaline’s are not, and the track listings make the point better than any rumour could:
- New Level Unlocked (2016): one guest, R&B singer Bobby V, on “Like Me”. Every other track is solo.
- Top Prize (2021, Autobamb Records): 14 tracks and no features at all, a detail DancehallMag highlighted in its album review.
- NPT (2026): 16 tracks, again with no guest artists credited.
That is one feature across 45 album tracks. Most of his collaborations instead live on one-off singles, riddim projects, remixes and other artists’ albums, which is why fans searching for “Alkaline songs featuring” often come up short. Because they are so infrequent, each new Alkaline link-up tends to draw outsized attention.

“Incognito” with Stalk Ashley: why it stood out
Of all the songs above, “Incognito” has one of the best backstories. Jamaican Dancehall&B singer Stalk Ashley released it on October 23, 2020 through Atlantic Records UK, and DancehallMag reported that the video climbed to No. 1 on YouTube’s trending list in Jamaica shortly after release.
The pairing began as a fan story. Ashley had been recording covers of Alkaline songs a few years before they worked together, and in comments reported by DancehallMag she said she had still never met him in person when the song was made. When The FADER premiered the mafia-styled video on December 23, 2020, she described him plainly: “Alkaline is my absolute favourite artist” (The FADER).
Timing made it stand out as well. It arrived months before Top Prize, his completely guest-free album, and it was the last new collaboration we could verify from him until “Wul Mine” in 2024. For an emerging singer two years removed from a viral freestyle, landing a verse from one of dancehall’s most selective stars was a statement. You can read the full backstory in our Incognito premiere feature.
Patterns in who Alkaline works with
Look closely at the list and a few threads appear:
- A strong UK connection. WSTRN, Chip, Kojo Funds, Stefflon Don and Stalk Ashley’s Atlantic UK single all tie him to the British scene, where “Txtin’” went on to earn Silver.
- Trusted producers. DJ Frass and his label are behind several of these records, including “Above Dem”, “Farewell” and Kranium’s “Just The Style”.
- Repeat partners. Mavado and Knaxx (three songs each) are the artists he has returned to most, with Star Captyn close behind.
- Genre range. From Shatta Wale’s Ghanaian dancehall to Justin Quiles’ Latin pop and Keith Sweat’s R&B, his rare features rarely stay in one lane.
Interestingly, WSTRN are another act Stalk Ashley has recorded with, on her 2020 single “Deserted”, so the two artists’ UK circles overlap more than you might expect.
The bottom line
Alkaline is not anti-collaboration. He has recorded with hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats and dancehall names across more than a decade. He simply saves those moments for singles and other people’s projects, keeping his albums almost entirely to himself. That scarcity is exactly why songs like “Txtin’”, “Just The Style” and “Incognito” still get so much attention.
