



KJ Spio is the connector — a British-Ghanaian executive and self-styled “culturepreneur” who has spent a decade bridging the UK, West African and Caribbean scenes, convening records like “Sokoma” with Marioo and Blaq Jerzee, “Side” with Harmonize and Libianca, “EMIKO” with Oxlade and “Skills” with NSG and Fave. Pulse Ghana compares his role to a DJ Khaled of the Afrobeats world. His partner on “HEAT”: KiDi — Dennis Nana Dwamena, the Ghanaian highlife/afrobeats star whose “Touch It” reached No. 11 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales, powered a 382-million-view TikTok challenge, and drew a Tyga remix.
Released in late August 2025 and produced by Crumz — whose credits span Krept & Konan, Tion Wayne, Tinie Tempah and Mr Eazi — “HEAT” is a sultry Afrobeats-R&B slow-burner: KiDi opens with his silky melodies, Stalk Ashley answers with the woman’s perspective and what Pulse Ghana called her “slick penmanship”. KJ Spio told Pulse the sessions with KiDi were a search for “a new sound” fusing classic Ghanaian highlife with R&B. Fittingly, the video was shot in Jamaica — the sound came to her island.
