How it happened

Of all the names in Stalk Ashley’s orbit, none has run alongside her longer than Valiant — Raheem Bowes, the Kingston artist whose 2022 takeover with “Dunce Cheque” made him dancehall’s hottest new act. Two records, a chart run and one unforgettable festival night later, this is dancehall’s most reliable on-record chemistry.

“Narcissistic” (2022–23): the one that topped the charts

The KhingCam-directed video premiered on December 23, 2022, and told a full story in four minutes: Valiant as the regretful cheater, Stalk Ashley as a doctor’s assistant who uncovers her partner’s infidelity through a pregnancy revelation — and walks. DancehallMag put it on its best-new-music list the next morning, and when the single dropped on January 6, 2023 via YGF Records and Zojak World Wide, it took off. MXSSIVH was among the producers behind the riddim — the same producer who would go on to shape much of her later catalogue.

Vibe reported the duet topped the Jamaican charts for weeks and likened it to a dancehall answer to Usher’s Confessions. Asked who the record was really about, Stalk Ashley didn’t hesitate: “The narcissist in the song is definitely Valiant,” she told Vibe. The track remains one of the most-streamed songs in either artist’s catalogue, with millions of plays across YouTube and Audiomack.

“Big Vibes” (2024): the album cut

When Stalk Ashley assembled her debut album Stalky the Bratt in August 2024, Valiant was one of the first calls. “Big Vibes”, track 6, flips their dynamic from courtroom drama to pure celebration — proof the “Narcissistic” chemistry wasn’t a one-off.

Sumfest Blitz 2025: the moment, live

On the Wednesday night of Reggae Sumfest 2025 — July 16, at the Catherine Hall stadium grounds in Montego Bay — Stalk Ashley delivered a commanding set at Blitz, the festival’s all-black party, weaving R&B, dancehall and soul on a bill that also featured Ghana’s Moliy and Trinidad’s Yung Bredda. Then Valiant walked out. Caribbean National Weekly wrote that the energy “reached fever pitch” as the two performed “Narcissistic” together, and declared the night belonged to Stalk Ashley.

She told the Jamaica Gleaner afterwards that “the ladies came out, dem sing fi me and scream and gave their support” — and that the main stage is coming: “Nothing happens before its time.”
