Two days before Christmas 2020, The FADER hit publish on a premiere that meant more to Stalk Ashley than most: the video for “Incognito”, her duet with the artist whose songs she used to cover — Alkaline. “Everyone who knows me knows Alkaline is my absolute favourite artist,” she told the magazine, calling the shoot “a very fist clenching and very surreal moment.”
The record had already proven itself: released October 23, 2020 via Atlantic UK, it went straight to #1 Trending in Jamaica with 300,000-plus views in days, per DancehallMag. The FADER’s David Renshaw framed the song as dancehall-flavoured R&B about keeping an affair off the radar; she called it “a song about fatal attraction… knowing there’s a little danger involved.”
The context makes the co-sign heavier in hindsight: Alkaline’s own Top Prize, released months later, was a fourteen-track, zero-feature album. He wasn’t doing collabs — and he did this one. The mafia-styled video has since crossed seven million views.
